“It’s a relaxed family spot with no airs or graces. The whole feel of Spurwing Island Lodge is down to earth and relaxed. The dining room is open to the breeze, the pool is nice and big for the children, the bar area is generous and the location is well shaded. Spurwing Island Lodge is also very popular as a fishing base, because it’s close to the bream rich coves of the former Sanyati forest. We all love Kariba, who wouldn’t? It’s 280 kilometres (kilometers) of bream, tiger, drowned forests, crocs and hippos. It’s harder, wilder, bigger, more visceral than almost any other man made lake anywhere. It’s fun, laid back, it’s family. Indeed there is still nothing like it on our doorstep.”
